Flying Aspidistras

So we saw The Flaming Lips’ Christmas on Mars last night. For some reason which I will not question, it was playing here at the local movie theater. I felt a little disappointed walking out of the theater but it’s probably impossible for something to meet the raised expectations of a psycho fan that has been anticipating it for five years. However, the movie plays like a third act to Grindhouse, and it’s pretty funny and doesn’t take itself very seriously. I think time will treat it kindly as you re-watch it and add color commentary with your friends who are also Lips fans (if your friends don’t like The Flaming Lips, you need to get new friends). If you like Planet Terror, you will like this movie.
